Our rocket launch was delayed until Tuesday of this week due to inclement weather on Monday, but it was a great success!  We are drawing near to the end of the school year, but there are lots of exciting projects and activities yet before us!  Stay tuned for more instructions/information about costumes and props for the musical.  Save the date: Wednesday, June 2 for the Fine Arts night which includes the musical performance and the art show in the parish hall.  You will once again have the opportunity to purchase your child’s art work matted and framed, ready to display in your home!  Invite friends and family to attend this special event that will be sure to be memorable and one that you won’t want to miss.

We are over half way done with Achievement tests.  We will finish them up on Monday and Tuesday of next week.  Thank you for your cooperation during this important time!

God’s blessings on your weekend activities!  It’s always good to see you at church and Sunday School on Sunday!  We love having you worship with us!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sankey

We are looking forward to kicking off National Lutheran Schools Week on Sunday.  There will be lots of fun and exciting things going on throughout the week. You won’t want to miss the music program on Tuesday night.  Be sure to look closely at the different themes for each day.  Students have been instructed specifically about ideas and expectations for the dress-up days next week.  All week long we will be collecting canned goods and hygiene products for the Cooperative Feeding Program!

Monday – Patriotic Day (Nice blue jeans are fine paired with a clearly patriotic or combo red, white, blue top or uniform clothing.) We will begin the day with chapel and will engage in a variety of simple service projects around school during the day.

Tuesday – Music/Art Day (Students may wear nice blue jeans or uniform pants with a t-shirt that accentuates a particular music group or artist.  Students could get quite creative and decorate their own shirt as well to make a piece of wearable art.)

Wednesday – Mom and Day Dress Up Day (Students should attempt to dress up as one of their parents, perhaps representing a particular career or activity that their mom or dad is involved in.)

Thursday – Twins/Triplets Day (Students should pair up with another student or form small group and dress as identically as possible!  Parents will probably have to help some with the coordination of this! J  At 9:00 am we will be joining together in the parish hall for an African drum experience.  Please join us if you’d like.)

Friday – Red and White School Spirit Day (Students will wear P.E. uniforms to school, and after a closing chapel we will run and jump our way through Mini Olympics.  Parents and grandparents are more than welcome to join us.  Keep in mind that if you plan on staying for lunch, you will need to RSVP to the school office by Monday.)

Please let me know in the coming weeks and months of any ways in which I can be of assistance to you as you make the transition and prepare for the upcoming school year.  I would be happy to fill out recommendation forms for your child.  I am so proud of the way in which your children are handling this difficult situation.  They have been very positive yet concerned for one another as they look ahead to the opportunities that the future holds.  It is my prayer that each child will find a new school home in which they are guided, taught, and challenged to continue in the academic, physical, and most importantly spiritual growth which they have begun at St. Mark’s.  While we are anxious about the new changes that will take place in all of our lives, we know we can put our complete trust in God who never disappoints or fails us.  I will continue to carry out my responsibilities and plans faithfully for the remainder of the school year.  Thank you for your continued support and prayers!  God’s blessings!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sankey

Our Kennedy Space Center Overnight Adventure field trip plans have changed slightly.  Due to the fact that we were the only group registered for March 16-17 and we are a very small group, we were asked to adjust our dates for traveling.  We will be traveling one week later (March 23-24).  I have already confirmed these dates with Mr. Strickman and Mr. Hernandez, our two chaperones, and so we are all set for now.   The times, itinerary, packing list, etc. will all remain identical.  I am sorry for this alteration, but I am very thankful that we were able to successfully change our dates.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you have any questions or concerns.   Thank you for all you do!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sankey

We have had lots of fun with our world map this week locating countries where things that we have are made.  It is amazing that the items that end up in our stores come from far away places like Madagascar, Figi, Egypt, Brazil, Sri Lanka, etc.  Keep looking for tags and we’ll keep honing our geography skills!  In music class we have begun our study of the keyboard and each child has a music book to play and practice from.  If your child has access to a piano or keyboard, you should hear them practicing often.  They will have an opportunity to practice some at school as well.  What a fun and valuable skill to learn!  Thanks for all you do.  I hope your 2010 is off to a great start!  God’s blessings!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sankey

Happy New Year!   We look forward to the opportunities, joys, and even the challenges that this coming year will bring!   May the Lord bless us with wisdom, health, and courage to accomplish the work He has laid out for us to do.  It was nice to see that the students were excited to be back in the classroom and happily going about their studies.  It was fun to hear about their time away from school over Christmas vacation.  We spent Christmas here with Mr. Sankey’s family and then traveled to Nebraska to be with my family.  What a nice change of pace and scenery!  Blessings and peace be with you throughout 2010!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sankey
