Accelerated Reader Program
St. Mark’s is excited to be participating in the Accelerated Reader Program! The desired goals of this program are to inspire young people to read more, to enrich their vocabulary, and to increase their level of reading comprehension.
Each semester we will recognize the top two readers in each classroom (1st-8th) with certificates and/or prizes. At the end of the year we will have a final awards ceremony to honor the top readers for the entire year. Each student’s active participation in the program is important as it is included as part of their reading grade in 5th grade. Most of all, their reading skills and interest in literature will continue to develop and grow!
All of the Accelerated Reader books in our school library are labeled for easy reference. To see if books you have at home, books from another library, or books you wish to purchase are included on the Accelerated Reader list, children and parents can go to the URL: www.renlearn.com/store. Once students verify that the book they have chosen to read is on the list, they can then read the book independently or with a family member and take the corresponding quiz at school to earn points.
Here are the steps to follow to see if the book you have chosen is on the Accelerated Reader list.
1) Enter the URL www.renlearn.com/store
2) On the home page, under Quiz Store, click on “Quiz Search”
3) Type in the title of the book and click “Go” to see if this book is on the list. If it appears, it will show the book’s reading level and point value and you can be assured that you will be able to take the quiz.
4) If you do not have a specific title in mind, you may want to choose the “Advanced Search.”
5) On the Advanced Search page you can search by author, topic, book level, or point value.
6) Click “Go.”
7) Scroll through the list of titles matching these criteria and click “Next” to see more titles. You can then make a list of books you may want to purchase or check out in the future.
